Pat Handlin is an attorney who has been licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois since 1978. She attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois and De Paul University College of Law in Chicago where she received her Juris Doctorate in 1978.

She has been in private practice since 1992 specializing in Elder Law and contested civil litigation. Her extensive litigation experience, includes having served as an Administrative Law Judge with the Illinois Human Rights Commission, presiding over evidentiary hearings on complaints of violations of the Illinois Human Rights Act and having served as an Assistant Public Defender in Cook County, Illinois.

In her Elder Law practice, Ms. Handlin currently represents individual seniors or their family members with regard to estate planning, Medicaid planning, guardianships, powers of attorney, estate administration and trust administration. She also represents agencies designated by the Illinois Department on Aging to receive and investigate complaints of elder abuse, neglect and financial exploitation and has represented clients with regard to predatory lending and other forms of financial exploitation of seniors. Her practice includes other contested civil litigation including the area of civil rights.

Her office is located at Milwaukee and Division Streets which makes it accessible to clients from the city and suburbs. Staff are available who speak English, Spanish and Bulgarian.
